Synopsis
Matt McCormick, a longtime fixture on the Pacific Northwest independent film scene, makes his feature debut with this thoughtful investigation into the lives of four people. Katrina (Carrie Brownstein) is a young woman who works at an animal shelter and is struggling with the pain of a recent breakup. Katrina is a big fan of reality TV and often discusses her relationship issues in audition tapes she sends out in hopes of being cast on one of her favorite shows. Eli (James Mercer) is an aspiring filmmaker who is better at coming up with reasons why he's out of work than actually finding a job. Otis (David Wodehouse) is an elderly experimental filmmaker befriended by Eli who is still struggling to find an audience for his work as he works on a new project about soap bubbles. And Camille (Renee Roman Nose) is a severely withdrawn woman who makes a startling discovery while working her shift at a thrift store -- someone has mistakenly donated an urn containing the ashes of a loved one. Some Days Are Better Than Others stars two respected members of the Pacific Northwest independent music community --Carrie Brownstein was a member of Sleater-Kinney while James Mercer is the leader of The Shins.
